Fashion: Alix Malka

May 31, 2011 2 Comments by Airen

-    True beauty lies underneath-

New York based rockstar fashion photographer Alix Malka made series of photographs of fashion models under water. In the ocean there are tons of beautiful creatures and Alix Malka had found a way to capture this with models in the water. The result is amazing.

This photoshoot was shot for fashionista bible, Numero Tokyo, the swirling curves and dramatic poses of model Marcelina Sowa are perfectly captured as she floats underwater. Water is of course famously the giver of life, but here it bears another gift: beauty. Combined with fashion it makes a great combination.

Wanna know who made all this? The artist behind all these great pictures is Alix Malka.
Alix Malka was born in Paris.  He was Thierry Mugler’s right hand man for a number of years; Alix Malka worked closely on all aspects of the couturier’s work. Alix has taken all kind of photo’s all over the globe. From the dunes of the Sahara to the Monument Valley or the Volgograd Stalin statues.  He finally left the Mugler ship in 1992 to make new dreams come true and to become a photographer himself. His specialist niche is colors, colors and yet more colors! He also has a major penchant for water and skin. He is a true perfectionist, which has brought him far.

His photo’s have been published in numerous prestigious magazines such as Numéro, Harper’s Bazaar, Flair and numerous international editions of Vogue. Today he is one of the most in demand photographers by the international magazines. One to watch, that’s for sure.

Just… wow! I really hope that McQueen dress didn’t get ruined in the water. I mean, it would be worth it for these pictures, but I still can’t bear the though.
